Check out P Style Fashion Magazine in the menu above. We think you'll LOVE it.
Letter from the editor:
Welcome to the first edition of P Style! You’ll find fashion stories here from the design center of Portland, Oregon. Students in the fashion programs at The Art Institute of Portland contributed articles about fashion designers, fashion shows, street style, cute accessories, and more. Our featured theme addresses how the current economic recession affects every aspect of fashion design, from student budgets for their portfolio collections to a major retailer’s marketing strategies. Innovation and creativity are more important now than ever. We preview Cora Lee Poole’s exciting collection of motorcycle noir style, an interview with Project Runway designer Janeane Marie Ceccanti, and the fresh new look at Pendleton.
We hope you enjoy our view of the fashion world from Portland, Oregon.

THE ART INSTITUTE OF PORTLAND'S APPAREL GRADUATE, JANEANE MARIE CECCANTI, SHOWCASES HER TALENT ON LIFETIME'S PROJECT RUNWAY, SEASON 7

The talented, Portland-based fashion designer Janeane Marie Ceccanti, now on Lifetimes’s Project Runway,http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/project-runway developed her abilities in Portland where she graduated from The Art Institute of Portland in Fall 2008 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Apparel Design. As a student at The Art Institute of Portland, Ceccanti was very involved in College events and activities and made an impression on her instructors.
“Janeane was a great student,” says Sue Bonde, Department Director for the Apparel Design, Accessory Design and Fashion Marketing programs. “She pushed the limits and learned to take risks.”
Ceccanti says she used her studio classes at Ai Portland to get a hands-on glimpse of what design and production process entails. “Being in school gives you the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them, and explore your perspective as a designer,” says Ceccanti.
Since graduating, Ceccanti has had a significant impact on Portland’s Fashion scene, with the launch of her women’s line, Janeane Marie. At 2009’s Portland Fashion Week, Janeane had the opportunity to showcase her Autumn/Winter collection, in The Art Institute of Portland’s show, as well as, her Spring/Summer collection in Portland Fashion Week’s “Emerging Designer” showcase.
Now, a contestant on Lifetimes, Project Runway, Season 7, Ceccanti <http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/project-runway/project-runway-designers/janeane-marie-ceccanti> has proven to excel under pressure. Competing for the chance to showcase a collection a Bryant Park, during New York Fashion Week, Ceccanti’s talent, self-motivation and grass-roots mentality, may be just want is needed to place her among the top three finalists on the show.
Ceccanti’s clothing is sold locally in Portland at Radish Underground, and on her website janeanemarie.com <http://janeanemarie.com/janeanemarie/home.html>.

ENTWINE MEETING: Wednesday, February 3 at 4:45pm in room 302
ALL FASHION STUDENTS WELCOME!
The Entwine blog should be up soon, so you can keep track of what is going on at the meetings. Bring your calendars tomorrow because we will be setting up dates for the trip to the Portland Opera's costume shop, a trip to the Gerding Theater's costume shop, and also planning a date for the fabric sale.
Great news - we have collected quite a few dresses for Abbey's closet. If you still have a dress which you would like to donate for the cause, the boxes will be up until the end of the week.
Hope to see you at the meeting!

- Color and/or fabric swatches.
- A paragraph/visuals of what inspired your collection.
